Giving Tuesday

Your gift today protects mountain lions and the wild places we all depend on.

For nearly forty years, the Mountain Lion Foundation has been a leading voice for mountain lions—helping secure landmark protections, advance science-based coexistence, and defend vital wildlife corridors.

What began as a grassroots effort to protect a persecuted species has become a national movement grounded in science, advocacy, and community. As new leadership steps in, we carry forward that legacy with deep respect—and a renewed sense of urgency for what comes next.

This Giving Tuesday, you can help launch the next chapter of our work and ensure that mountain lions—and the wild landscapes they represent—endure for generations to come.

Mountain lions are more than symbols of the wild. They are keystone species that help keep ecosystems healthy and resilient.

When mountain lions thrive:

  • Wildlife stays in balance. Lions help keep deer and other prey populations in check, which supports healthier forests and river corridors.
  • Habitats recover. With herbivores kept in balance, vegetation can regenerate, benefiting everything from songbirds to pollinators.
  • Whole watersheds are stronger. Healthy plant communities support soil, water quality, and biodiversity throughout the landscape. Protecting mountain lions means protecting the integrity of the places that give us clean air, flowing water, and a sense of wild possibility.

Today, mountain lions stand at a crossroads—and so do we.

Rapid development is fragmenting habitat. Highways and busy roads cut across migration routes. Conflicts with people are increasing as we push farther into wild spaces. In many places, policies still lag behind the science, treating lions as problems rather than vital parts of healthy ecosystems.

The choices we make now will determine whether future generations share a world where mountain lions still roam.

Your Giving Tuesday gift strengthens the bridge between science, advocacy, and community action.

This Giving Tuesday, your support will help us:

1. Deepen Science-Driven Conservation
Invest in research that maps lion movement, identifies key corridors, and turns cutting-edge science into practical tools for decision-makers.

2. Expand Coexistence Programs
Provide communities, residents, and ranchers with real solutions—from education and outreach to practical coexistence tools that reduce conflict and keep both people and wildlife safer.

3. Advance Policy and Protection
Work in key states to reform outdated management practices, protect habitat connectivity, and promote wildlife-friendly infrastructure that allows lions to move safely across the landscape.

4. Strengthen Storytelling and Public Engagement
Share powerful stories that reconnect people to nature and highlight our shared responsibility to protect the wild, whether they live in mountain towns or urban neighborhoods.

This Giving Tuesday you can fuel the next phase of science, advocacy, and coexistence work for mountain lions.

Every gift—whether it’s $10, $50, or $500—helps us move closer to a future where people and mountain lions truly thrive together.

The story of the mountain lion is, in many ways, the story of us all: our relationship to wildness, to resilience, and to the landscapes that sustain life.

As we honor four decades of impact and look toward the horizon, we invite you to stand with us.

Your Giving Tuesday gift helps ensure that mountain lions—and the wild places they represent—continue to endure, inspire, and roam free.
