Volunteers play an important role in advancing the Mountain Lion Foundation’s mission. Whether representing MLF at community events, helping educate the public, or sharing science-based information about coexistence, volunteers help connect people to mountain lion conservation.
Mountain Lion Foundation Ambassadors are passionate volunteers who help educate communities, represent MLF at public events, and inspire coexistence between people and mountain lions.
By sharing knowledge, answering questions, and helping others better understand mountain lions, ambassadors play an important role in building support for conservation and coexistence.

General Requirements
A one-time $30 volunteer fee helps cover the cost of your MLF ambassador’s shirt, training, materials, and a background check.
Prior to virtual orientation, we ask volunteers to complete a few steps:
All onboarding materials are sent to the email you provide on the inquiry form. Background check links are sent in a separate email from our screening partner. Please allow a few days to receive an email from Global Verification.
Virtual orientations are held quarterly and hosted by the MLF Volunteer Coordinator.
The orientation is 60 minutes and will be held via Zoom invite and will cover the following:
Learn about MLF's mission, values, and coexistence framework.
Understand mountain lion biology, behavior, and common questions.
Learn how to table, present, and engage with diverse audiences.
Stay connected through continuing education and volunteer communications.
